NIXONS INDUCTED INTO
JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF KENTUCKIANA'S
BUSINESS HALL OF FAME
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, USA (April 8, 2009) - Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana inducted Gouverneur H. Nixon, Jr. (Bo) and his son, Theodore H. Nixon (Ted) as Laureates in the Business Hall of Fame at a ceremonial awards dinner on March 2nd at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
The Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame honors outstanding business leaders who have made legendary contributions to the free enterprise system. The Board of Directors established the JA Hall of Fame in 1982. The glass-on-glass display of all 81 Laureates adorns the walls adjacent to the Cascade Ballrooms in the Kentucky International Convention Center. The Hall of Fame display includes portraits and biographies of each of the Laureates.
"It is truly an honor for both my father and me to be named Hall of Fame Laureates by our peers in the Louisville business community," commented Ted Nixon, CEO and Chairman of D.D. Williamson.
Gouverneur H. Nixon, Jr. (Bo) grew up in the D.D. Williamson business that his father led from 1896 until his death in 1946. Bo moved to Louisville in 1950 and became CEO in 1963.
Theodore H. Nixon (Ted), who also grew up in the family business, officially took over as CEO from his father, Bo, in 1992.
The Laureates inducted into the Business Hall of Fame serve as an inspiration to all and to the students who look to Junior Achievement for guidance and support as they further their understanding of the business community. The Laureate Selection Committee works independently of Junior Achievement and its Board of Directors. Its selection criteria include business excellence, vision and innovation, inspiring leadership, community involvement, and actions as role models for future generations.
