D.D. Williamson Adds Caramelized Onion

LOUISVILLE, KY (June 22, 2006) - D.D. Williamson announces its Caramelized Onion prototype is now in production to meet increased customer demand.

“We developed the caramelized onion product in response to our customers’ need for clean labeling as 100% Onion,” said Owen Parker, vice president for research and development. “This new product contributes a savory flavor to foods, and it adds color.”

Caramelized Onion provides a rich brown color to soups and sauces. The product may be listed on an ingredient statement as “Caramelized Onion Juice Concentrate”. D.D. Williamson also produces Caramelized Rice and Caramelized Apple. Additional prototypes derived from fruits, vegetables and other carbohydrate sources are in development.
