D.D. WILLIAMSON Expands its Global Operations to Africa
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, U.S.A. (23 July 1999) — D.D. Williamson, the world’s largest manufacturer of caramel color, recently completed construction of a new plant in Southern Africa. This is the sixth production facility for the company and joins those in Europe, Latin America, Asia and North America.
The new operation is located in the Matsapha Industrial Park in Manzini, Swaziland. It features the company’s latest advances in manufacturing and quality processes for various caramel colors used in beverages, sauces, and other food products. The facility will generate exports across Africa and the Indian sub-continent.

The African operation marks the beginning of a strategic alliance between African Products (Pty) Ltd. and D.D. Williamson (Pty) Ltd. The new relationship combines African Products’ strengths as a supplier of dextrose raw material with D.D. Williamson’s global expertise in caramel color manufacturing.
