D.D. WILLIAMSON Introduces Innovative Dulce de Leche Sauce

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, U.S.A. (17 August 1999)  — D.D. Williamson, theworld’s largest manufacturer of caramel color, introduced a breakthrough, time-saving food application at the Food Ingredients Brazil `99 exhibition this week in Sao Paulo. The company unveiled a dulce de leche “speedy sauce” that saves time for chefs by skipping the lengthy cooking phase normally required in preparation.

This inventive sauce’s formula contains D.D. Williamson Caramel Color # 624 to enhance both flavor and color. The flavor of dulce de leche, whichtranslates to “sweet from milk,” has long satisfied Latin American tastes in pudding, ice cream, candy, and cookies. Brazilians, Peruvians, and Colombians call this unique taste doce de leite, manjar, and  arequipe, respectively. According to a New York Times article, dulce de leche has gone mainstream, showing up on the dessert menus of restaurants in the U.S.A and France.

Caramel Color # 624, a primary ingredient in this special sauce, is available from D.D. Williamson’s sales representatives around the globe. In Brazil, Beraca Ingredients (phone 011-6641-8722)  offers stocks of Caramel Color # 624 at its Sao Paulo warehouse.

D.D. Williamson, established in 1865, is North America’s oldest and the world’s largest manufacturer of caramel color. The company offers fifty liquid varieties and twelve powdered varieties. Most of its six manufacturing operations — located in the U.S.A., Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa — are ISO 9002 certified and have been recognized with numerous Quality awards. D.D. Williamson produces caramel color for leading global brand names in beverages, sauces, baking, soups, dry mixes, as well as pet foods and pharmaceutical products.
